Hey all !

So day 1 was pretty crazy ! It was so nice to actually meet people who I had been talking to ! @angel she is well…. quite literally a angel !

We met everyone at 3pm for check it. Andrew was there as our acting guide 😂 even through he has way more humour than a guide should have ! Top man 😂

We were given our rooms. In my room we have Becca, Alice, myself, Angel and 6 other girls. I feel like I have hit the jackpot with these girls they are all lovely !

At 5pm we all met for drinks (just lemonade let’s not get ahead of ourselves) and we’re given our attraction passes ! Andrew went through everything for the day. Which was let’s go to the subway (very hard not to think of the food subway) and buy all your metro cards ! And then we are gonna go to the Rockefeller centre. Once we got there we got tickets for 9.20pm entrance ! A hefty 2 hour wait! We all split and went to Times Square for dinner! First a few of us tried Hard Rock Cafe but they were very busy so we decided to go to juniors instead !

At 9pm we went over to queue for Rockefeller centre ! The lift was horrendous my ears were popping like crazy ! But once we were at the top it was well worth it ! The view was incredible. I had Becca clinging onto me but she soon got her bearings ! We got so many cute pictures !

Check in tomorrow to see a low down of day 2 ! It’s gonna be jam packed with lots of fun, laughs and possibly a few bruises !

Hi guys,

I haven’t been able to keep up with this page as I wish I had. But not to worry you guys are going to receive and week by week instalment when I’m back in the UK!

So today I left camp ! Yes I cried, yes we all cried! Who would have thought we would all become so close in two months! It was tough because we are all trying not to cry but all it takes is one person to start then we are all gone 😂 My camp director organised someone to take me to Wilmington bus station so I could make my bus and here I am writing this on the greyhound bus to NYC.

If I’ve taken one thing away from camp it’s to be me ! And don’t be afraid to be me don’t change myself for other people and quite literally shout YOLO 😂

There’s something everyone from AmeriCamp says and it couldn’t be any more true ! “You leave camp but camp never leaves you”

I cannot thank AmeriCamp enough for everything there’ve done for me ! And thank you so much to everyone at camp who helped me and made my experience it would not have been the same without you!

Now to the AmeriCamp after party 🥳

Hi beautiful humans,

So booking my flights was not my finest moment, not gonna lie 😂 I was so stressed out for many reasons as well as I’m not the best traveler 😂

So I started of shopping around first. I checked the website STA travel which a lot of people seem to have booked flights through as well as contacting the AmeriCamp flights team !

I found a lot of cheap deals on STA travel but they were with airlines I’ve never flown with and me being me, a nervous freak, wanted to fly with a airline I have been with before.

AmeriCamp found me some bargains but they weren’t direct and didn’t include baggage. So wasn’t ideal, I was about a thumbnail close to going with them, but I found that British airways had a sale on and with some help (you know who you are) booked them on my birthday !

So I’ll be flying direct from Heathrow to Philadelphia and being picked up by my camp ! And then flying home from LA after all of my traveling after camp !

I cannot wait 🎊🎊 excitement level is very high!

So if anyone is flying out of Heathrow on June the 17th give me a shout and we can get breakfast together ❤️👍

Hiya guys and girls ! Just me Gigi again ! Hope you all had a amazing Christmas and new year ! I’m currently listening to the greatest showman *the other side* and in that scene the bartender has the hardest job !

Anyway I decided that I should probably update you all ! So the 18th on January I met up with the AmeriCamp girlies Lauren and Hollie ! We also had the pleasure of meeting Ella as well ! That night we went to two different Wetherspoon’s (the first one was far to busy) the hardest thing was trying to be good and not drink any fizzy drinks (day 17 sober 😂) then we all header back to the hotel to then head back out to collect Ellie from central London ! I spent a lot on travel that day 😂

On the 19th of January I had to go into work to cover a children’s birthday party even through I booked it off as a holiday #committed ! From what I gathered Lauren, Hollie, Ellie and Ella went shopping in central London ! After I had finished work I headed into central London to meet Issy ! This was for a camp meet up and she is doing screen printing ! We arrived where we was meeting everyone else super early so we found a Starbucks had a gossip and then headed back to the restaurant and sat outside waiting (as you know england isn’t exactly warm) the restaurant gave us these bright coloured blankets ! Like ouch my eyes but it was warm so who am I to complain 😂 I was so so so so nervous as Helen had hired me but Alli the director had hired Issy so I was so paranoid that Alli wouldn’t like me 😂 had no reason to be through as she was super lovely ! So when everyone arrived, Alli realised she had booked the table for 6 people but there was seven, slight blonde moment there (hey we all have them) anyway you can tell she’s American, us British folk would have been like we will wait for another table to finished but Alli was like is it illegal if it’s not we are doing it ! Made me proper giggling ! So at the meal it was myself and Issy who are first timers, Alli, Helen, Jed, Rosanna, and Kirralee 🙂 everyone was so so nice and got me so excited about camp especially the banquet ! They show us loads of pictures and told us so many story’s about camp. I was however very sad that a few of them especially Helen won’t be returning to camp this year 😢 but I’ll be sending her lots and lots of pictures. While I was here Lauren, Holly and Ellie was seeing wicked and Ella had met up with friends !

On the 20th of January ! Me, Lauren, Holly and Ella headed up to London to go to the camp fair as well as meeting Katie ! Lauren was filming for AmeriCamp and I was there to help ! It was super fun being the other side of things as we had been #placed in the November fair ! Holly had to go meet family and travel home to Huddersfield but she wanted to come say hi to Levi the legend ! We had so so so much fun helping at the fair. My camp was there hiring and were like get these skills 😂 super funny ! So while we were there helping Ella was applying for camps and Katie took herself on a walking tour of London ! And in her words “made a friend with a bird” 😂

We had such fun at this fair ! And we got to see the truest friendship between Louis #birdistheword and boss man lee ! It was so genuine and honestly very very sweet !

Once we got back to the hotel it was time to edit edit edit! Of course we had a few rounds of guess that tune! Brilliant editing from Lauren ! See below !

On the 21st it was time to say goodbye 😢 it was super sad and I didn’t want the weekend to end ! But all good things do ! We are all super excited to start our journey at camp !

Hi guys me again !

So the Camp Fair , Where do i start !! It was a incredible experience, super duper fun ! So me Chlo, KT , Jack and Kira left our hotel at 10am, went for a nice scenic walk to the camp fair which took 15 minutes. When i googled it it was suppose to be about 2-5 minutes from the hotel ! Never let jack lead the way :’).

Once we arrived outside we ran into Lauren, Ellie, Holly and others, guess what they got there for 8am when the doors don’t open till 12pm !! Madness !! me and Chlo got really hungry so we ordered McDonald’s chicken nuggets and hot drinks !

There was so many people queuing outside that they started to let us in a little earlier than planned !! Super fun 🙂

Once inside we took a group selfie and boomerang ! Which the AmeriCamp team put on the AmeriCamp social medias ! Which was so strange to see myself on there !

Once we were allowed to approach camps I started queuing for Chen-A-Wanda. This was a very long queue. I was talking to a AmeriCamp employee ,Holly, and she asked me on my opinion on all girls camps which I wasn’t against the idea of going to one. She recommended going to speak to one of the all girl camps. I wasn’t successful with this camp, they did say they liked me and my attitude but had no position for me at that time. Then i spotted my FAVORITE ever camp, Camp Saginaw. I felt more confident this time because i had already spoken to a camp. SOOOOO HERE GOES NOTHING !!!

So I went up and spoke to two wonderful girls. We were speaking for ages about the camp and my experiences with the skills I’ve applied for. I also got a chance to show of my fifty bracelets and earrings. I spoke to one of the girls while Helen went through my application. They then asked what would happen if they offered me a position and I said that I would probably cry with happiness, they then told me they would love to offer me the position !! GO ME !!!

Once I was placed I headed out to the check out area to tell them, have my picture taken, talk to the after party team and tell everyone how excited i was ! I also found out that Ellie, Lauren, Holly, KT and Jack also got hired !

Of course I waited around for the free McDonald,until this point i had never had a cheese burger or any sort of beef burgers from McDonald. But i was so hungry I decided to try one and to my surprise I love it ! so I had three.

Anyway my advice to anyone going to a camp fair is to be yourself, research the camps you want to approach, take a few printed applications with you ,take some evidence of the skills on your application. Most importantly SMILE and have a OPEN MIND !!!!

As you can imagine I was pretty excited about the camp fair ! I was literally counting the days down ! I was fortunate to make some incredible friends before hand. A group of us went up two nights early, Chlo and KT who I never actually met in person ! We instantly clicked. The following morning we was joined by Ty and Kira ! We had a great day shopping in primark ! We then went back to the hotel to meet Ellie, Lauren and Holly ! I was so excited and greatful that in my short time being with AmeriCamp I had already made so amazing friends !!

The night before the camp fair we decided to hit up the Manchester Christmas markets ! These were a blast. We all split up as some people wanted to do different stuff to other people! Me and Chlo bought really cute hot chocolates in these adorable mugs (which we had to give back, gutted) ! We walked around for ages looking for nice little presents ! I bought some precious stones for my little brother and Chlo bought some macaroons for her parents ! After this we decided to head back to the hotel as we were freezing !

Once everyone was back at the hotel we all went into one room, ordered loads of food from ubereats and tried to revise. As you can imagine me, Chlo, KT,  Lauren, Ellie, Holly and Kira were so excited it was actually hard to actually revise 😂 we was also joined by fellow AmeriCamper, Jack.

We finally decided to call it a night ! Look out for my next post, all about the AmeriCamp fair !

I had my interview on June the 30th.  This was pushed back a few times due to life getting in the way which was extremely frustrating, but it gave me more time to prepare for my interview. Which I was very grateful for. It was super relaxed, I was very very nervous before hand purely because I had no idea what to expect. Everyone I had contacted through AmeriCamp were very supportive. Shout out to Louis !! 

So it was a interview over Skype it literally felt like a chat with a girlfriend it was that chilled. She asked me things about my skills Cooking, Drama and Jewellery making and my experiences teaching this to children. She also wanted to know more about my experiences looking after children. The hardest question I was asked was ‘Why should a camp hire you?’ I was honestly cringing so hard. I really do not like them sorts of questions. Around a week later I received a email from  Tara congratulating me on reaching stage two. This is where i had to pay my stage two fees, get two references and create my application video.

My advice to anyone having a AmeriCamp Skype interview is be yourself, smile and have some questions prepared. The majority of the people working for AmeriCamp have been to camp before so they love telling you about there experiences which made me so so excited for my turn. 

If you’re ever worried reach out to the AmeriCamp  team. They are honestly the best group of people.

This was super easy ! I applied on June the 17th and on the same day I had a email from someone called Tara. She was super helpful and made me feel more confident about leaving home to follow my state side dream ! It was a very scary experience for me but Tara made me feel at ease. She was with me for the whole two weeks of my application. She checked my application for me when I believe it was finished. There was only a few things that needed changing, for example, put more information about this and explain more about your experience with this. She then emailed me about a interview I would be having with a another ameriCamp employee, Izzy a fellow Essex girl.
